(May 4, 2009) A BIG congratulations to Ellen Reeder on receiving the 2009 "At the Heart of a Growing American" scholarship from 1st Farm Credit Services. A banquet and formal presentation of the scholarship will be hosted by 1st Farm Credit for the students and parents in June. Ellen plans to attend University of Illinois-Champaign to pursue a degree in agricultural leadership education. She hopes to become an ag education instructor and an FFA advisor.
Last Saturday Jack Horner of Galesburg and his sister Sally Duclose of Alaska visited in the home of Fred and Marilyn Welch.
Last Sunday Kathleen and Lyle Worthington attended the music concert given by Leo and Alicia Ramer in which their friends Caleb Baker and Josh Adee were participants. They also attended the United Elementary School music program on Thursday.
Marjorie Smith attended a band concert in Farmington last Tuesday in which her grandson Tyler Smith was a participant.
Mary Ann Eiserman of Libertyville and her daughter Ann Lyons came and spent the weekend with her father Irvin Galusha. Other callers during the weekend were Cherry and Davie Simmons of Biggsville.
Barbara Determan of Early, Iowa spent a few hours Sunday afternoon with her parents Helen and Clyde Campbell.
Men's Bible study has been discontinued at Little Cedar for the month of May.
Little Cedar congregation is collecting non-perishable food and paper products for the Starting-Point food pantry. This is an ongoing project.
