  • William P. Ryner,  64, of Monmouth, and formerly of Seaton, passed away at 1:03 a.m. on July 30, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
    William was born on July 23, 1945 in Monmouth, and is the son of Paul and Mildred Mills Ryner. He was raised in Monmouth and attended Warren School through high school. He was previously married to Susan J. Price, and later was married to Judy Hawk, both of Monmouth. Bill was first employed at the Gambles Skogmo Warehouse in Monmouth as a warehouseman. He then was a Linestocker at Maytag in Galesburg for a time and then a material cutter at Smolers of Monmouth. His main employment was as a lineman, meter reader and gas lineman for Illinois Power Company which he did for numerous years. Bill also for a time was a welding instructor for IP in Decatur.
    Bill enjoyed life and his friends. He was a people person and knew no strangers.
    Bill is survived by his sons, Mark Ryner and Dawn of Wabash, Ind., and Cory Ryner and Emily from Plymouth, Mich. Also two daughters survive, Paulla Thornberry and James of Delaware, Ohio; and Ashley Ryner and Larry of Monmouth. One step daughter, Carrie Traore of Peoria. Bills special friend Wanda Schreck of Monmouth is also surviving. Seven grandchildren survive with two on the way. Also Bill’s brother, Gene Ryner of Galesburg, is surviving along with his sister Barb Walline and Bob of Cambridge. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one granddaughter.
    A funeral service took place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday Aug. 4, 2009 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment was in Mosher Cemetery. His family received friends at the Funeral Home Tuesday for an hour and a half prior to the service. A memorial fund is being established.
