  • Local 4-H livestock judging team makes history

  • The Rock Island County 4-H Livestock Judging Team made history February 25 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.  They won the Illinois Beef Expo Livestock Judging Contest.  This makes them the first team in history to win both the Iowa Beef Expo Judging Contest (held two weeks prior in Des Moines, Iowa) and the Illinois Beef Expo Judging Contest in the same year.

  • The Rock Island County 4-H Livestock Judging Team made history February 25 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.  They won the Illinois Beef Expo Livestock Judging Contest.  This makes them the first team in history to win both the Iowa Beef Expo Judging Contest (held two weeks prior in Des Moines, Iowa) and the Illinois Beef Expo Judging Contest in the same year.
    The winning Beef Expo team is made up of Carson Hank, Mercer County High School, Jacob Baker, Prophetstown High School, and Tyson Schulte, and Dayton Coyne, both from Sherrard High School.
    Carson Hank was the 1st place Overall Individual and Tyson Schulte placed 4th Overall. The team is coached by JD Schulte, Milan, and Andy Roth, formerly of Alexis.
    A Mercer County team, made up of Bernard Ausmus and AJ Line, Mercer County High School,  and Isaac Taber and Sully Frick, United High School, placed 3rd Overall Team.  
    A second Rock Island team, made up of Austin Hyett, Mercer County High School, and Tyler Freyermuth, Allison Beckman, and Lucas Crawford, all from Rockridge High School, placed 7th Overall Team.  Tyler Freyermuth placed 7th Overall as an Individual and Austin Hyett placed 8th Overall as an Individual.
