  • On Saturday, May 26, 2012 Rock Island and Mercer County 4-H clubs and their friends will unite to host the seventh annual Charity Horse Show at Schone's Friendship Farm in Milan, a fundraising event will all proceeds to benefit the New Kingdom Trailriders therapeutic riding program. Since 1984, NKT has provided therapy through riding for the benefit of physically and mentally challenged children and adults in the greater Q.C. area.
    Their dream has always been to present a quality horse show, drawing participation from talented local horse-people, as well as offering an opportunity to showcase the achievements of the special rides of NKT. Along with the show, they offer a Lunch Stand (well known for their grilled pork tenderloins), a hugely popular Silent Auction and new Live Auction that was added last year, as well as a Complimentary Ice Cream Social to celebrate the day. The show has enjoyed tremendous success over the last six year, with outstanding support form an enthusiastic local horse community, nationally and internationally acclaimed horse trainers and distributors of equine products, as well as generous donations from caring individuals and wonderful area businesses. Last year over $11,000 was raised for NKT, a new record for the show.
    This year, you are invited to help continue the tradition. Please continue contributing to the success of this event through a donation of a Silent Auction or Live Auction item, or a Class Sponsorship. They will gratefully highlight your patronage in the show flyer, on the donor wall, and with announcements throughout the show. The will also be happy to display literature, banners or other items to help promote your business or organization. Auction items such as art, handmade items, merchandise, gift certificates for products or services and food or travel packages have all been popular at past events. Your donation will be displayed with your company information and bid on during the silent auction, with larger items featured in a Live Auction during the show.
