The Mercer County 4-H Federation Club held their 2nd Annual 4-H Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, March 3 at the Mercer County Intermediate School. Ten 4-H clubs cooked up a pot of their best chili. The Aledo firefighters judged the chili cook-off and choose Country Kids 4-H as the club with the best chili. Country Kids received the traveling trophy for the best chili. The People’s Choice Award went to the Hamlet Handy Helpers 4-H club. They received the most donations for their chili. This event was a free will donation supper and raised over $500. All proceeds are going to benefit the Mercer County Animal Control Facility for the care of the animals at the facility.
