Mercer County Board Votes On Sale Of Nursing Home To Genesis Health System

The Mercer County Board will vote on the sale of the Mercer County Nursing Home to Genesis Health System.  Mercer County voters last month overwhelmingly approved a referendum giving the Mercer County Board authority to sell the nursing home.  Sale of the nursing home will require a 2/3 majority vote, or 7 votes of the 10-member board.  Genesis Health System has made an offer of $2.25 million for the nursing home and if approved, has committed to taking ownership of the hospital as well.  Genesis plans on investing approximately $15 million in the combined Mercer County Hospital and Mercer County Nursing Home operations.  Genesis presently manages both facilities.
