Edna B. Rhine, 91, of Aledo died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at home. Services are 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial will be in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Fippingers where the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be left to the Mercer County VFW Post #1571 Auxiliary or the Aledo First Baptist Church. She was born Feb. 26, 1921 in Mercer County a daughter of John and May Brown Pollock. She attended the Mercer County Schools and married R. Lester Chard Feb. 26, 1938 in Muscatine, Iowa. He died Jan. 22, 1985. She married Ronald R. Rhine Dec. 1, 1998 in Kahoka, Mo.
Edna was employed as a clerk at area Aledo stores including: JC Penney’s, Ben Franklin, Foster Flower Shop and Well’s Café.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aledo, a lifetime member of the Mercer County VFW Post #1571 Auxiliary and a Gold Star member of the American Legion Fallerans Post #121 Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Mercer County Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by her husband; Ron; a daughter: Linda (Richard) Levsen of Blue Grass, Iowa; one son: John (Anna) Chard of St. Augustine, Fla.; a step-son: Rodger Rhine of Aledo; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a sister: Bessie (John) Bruce of Aledo; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester; a son and daughter-in-law: Pete and Linda Chard; two brothers and one sister.
