Robert L. Blaine, 89, of Woodhull, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg. Services were 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Woodhull Cemetery. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox in Woodhull where memorials may be left to Bethany Lutheran Church or Clover Township Library. He was born Sept. 22, 1922 in Rivoli Township, to Percy and Murrey Berkley Blaine. He graduated from Oxford Township/Alpha High School and married LaVona "Vonie" Rehn Jan. 15, 1945 in Woodhull. She died March 30, 2003.
Bob farmed all his life. For several summers, he was employed by Bolduc & Sons in Woodhull. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was a mason for many years. He was a former director at Crescent Lake in Alpha.
He enjoyed playing cards as a member of the "50" Club. He was an avid Illini fan, enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading and especially being with friends and family.
Survivors include one son: Tim (Michelle) Blaine of Woodhull; five grandchildren: Sarah (Bob) Carlberg of Riverview, Fla.; Melissa (Mike) Bushnell of Galesburg; Amanda Linnenberger of Ind.; Alison Blaine (Nick Kesler) of Woodhull; Briyan Laun of Calif.; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law Sylvia Petrovich of Alpha.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter: Kathy; five sisters and two brothers.
