Jessie was born Jessie Ada Ross to Frank and Delma Ash Ross Feb. 26, 1931, in Muscatine, Iowa.

She attended Hopewell School on the Muscatine Island and later attended some high school at Nichols, Iowa, until an older brother was wounded in the service and she needed to stay home and care for a younger brother. She then worked for several families in the area caring for their children until she met her husband.

At the skating rink in Muscatine, in December of 1951, she met David Alan Frieden; they were married March 28, 1952, at the Musserville Methodist Church by Reverend Jack Willis, the minister of the Church of the Nazarene.
Jessie and her husband spent their time living in a 30-mile radius of Muscatine, with the exception of 11 years spent in the Bourbonnais/Manteno area, where she had followed her husband who attended Olivet Nazarene College.

She was a member of the Providence Baptist Church, Eliza Lions Club, and the Eliza Community Club. She loved the Lord, her husband who was her best friend and her family.  She loved to garden, and care for flowers and hummingbirds. When she was younger and able to walk, she loved to entertain and shop.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband of more than 60 years, David Alan Frieden; her family (of which she always said was easy to remember having five children, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren). Her children include Ron (Debbie) Frieden of Manteno, Teresa (Randy) Moyner, of Burlingon, Iowa, Dennis (Julie) Frieden of Kalona, Iowa, David (Victoria Korovkina) Frieden of Wellman, Iowa, and Brenda (Chris) Bieri of Eliza.

Her grandchildren include Stephanie (Tim) Koerner of Kankakee, Bryce (Renee) Frieden of Harlingen, Texas, Kim (Dave) Mazure of North Liberty, Iowa, Heath (fiancé Randie Fisher) Frieden of Kalona, Iowa, and Amy Moyner of Wheaton.|

Her great-grandchildren include Jade and Beau Frieden, and Dawson, Gavon, and Landon Mazure.

Her siblings include Evelyn (Dick) Cracker of Muscatine, Iowa, and Jerry Ross of Muscatine, Iowa; and her sister-in-law Alberta Schrock of Chiefland, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Delma Ross; her in-laws Albert and Pearl Frieden; her brothers George, Oscar, and Robert Ross and her brother-in-law, Bill Schrock.
