  • A-W girls, Mid-County boys win LTC cross country titles

  • The Annawan-Wethersfield girls and Mid-County boys raced to Lincoln Trail Conference cross country team titles Thursday in Galva.
    Led by Maddie Jackson and Kaitlyn Cline, the Lady Titans finished with 32 points followed by Mercer County 42, Mid-County 48 and Ridgewood 114.
    Jackson finished third in a time of 20:55 and Cline fourth at 21:19. Also counting for A-W were Dana Baele sixth at 21:37, Aly Eastman seventh at 21:37 and Kylie Cline 14th at 23:22.
    Mid-County’s Courtney Melton was the individual champion in a time of 20:11.
    In the boys race, Mid-County rode four top-10 finishes to the team title. The Cougars finished with 34 team points, followed by Annawan-Wethersfield and Mercer County with 56 each, and Ridgewood with 81.
    Pacing Mid-County were Ethan Stanley in third at 17:27, Brennan Foley fifth at 17:44, Mike Bersell sixth at 17:58, Bryant VanDeWostine ninth at 18:08 and Mike Keener 11th at 18:23.
    Annawan-Wethersfield’s Michael Cook won the individual title with a time of 17:11. Also counting for the Titans were Cody Baele seventh at 18:02, Andrew Titlow eighth at 18:05, Austin Osborne 20th at 19:43 and Rasheed DeBord 26th at 20:26.
    Jonathan Walsten finished 10th to lead Ridgewood with a time of 18:13.
