  • The Aledo Police Department has announced they will be hosting their third Citizen Police Academy, beginning October 25th, 2012.
The Citizen Academy is an 8-week educational, citizen involvement activity designed by the Police Department to give citizens a better understanding of law enforcement operations and the criminal justice system in their community. It also provides a venue for the police and citizens to share information and promote understanding between citizens and police officers regarding their respective concerns.
The weekly sessions will run from 6 P.M. to approximately 8 P.M. at the Aledo City Hall Council Chambers. Some areas of training include patrol operations, traffic, DUI, narcotics, investigations, crime scene, criminal justice process (States Attorney's Office), and firearms.
There is no cost involved to participants in the program. The Academy is open to anyone 18 years of age or older that resides, works, or goes to school in Aledo. Applicants must not have a felony conviction and no arrests within the past two years.
Applications may be picked up at the Aledo Police Department or the Aledo City Hall.
