Marilyn I. Vinstrand, 87, of Silvis, formerly of Osco, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Aspen Rehab and Health Care, Silvis.
Private funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services with the Rev. Todd Smith officiating. Burial was at the Andover Cemetery. Public visitation was one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Marilyn Vinstrand Memorial Fund.
Marilyn Brodd was born April 30, 1925, in Moline, the daughter of Phillip and Esther (Norine) Brodd. She was a graduate of Orion High School. Her marriage to Calvin Vinstrand took place on June 19, 1948, in Andover. He passed away Nov. 13, 1985.
Marilyn and her husband were owners and operators of the Fireworks Manufacturing and Wholesalers in Osco. In her early years, Marilyn enjoyed traveling, ceramics, playing the piano and singing.
Those surviving are a daughter, Barbara DeWitte of Moline; a daughter-in-law, Verl Johnson-Vinstrand of Cambridge; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Paxton of Moline, Jill DeWitte of Moline, Christy Long of St. Louis, Mo., Tanya Roper, of Anchorage, Alaska, Matt Jacobs of Milan, Sharidain and Cullen Vinstrand of Cambridge and a great-granddaughter, Kyndra Long of St. Louis.
Her parents, her husband, a son, Brad, a brother, Gene Brodd, and a sister, Phyllis Mason, preceded her in death.
