  • Garden Tractors pull for Black Hawk College scholarships

  • On Saturday, November 3, the Galva/Tri-County Garden Tractor Pullers will hold their 11th Annual Fall Indoor Pull at Black Hawk College East Campus.
    Garden tractors from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin converge on Black Hawk College East Campus for this annual event which is free to the public. Classes include stock garden tractors up to 25 horse power and alcohol garden tractors up to 100 horse power.
    Sign in begins at 8 and runs through 10 a.m. Two indoor tracks will run Open RPM Classes and Stock Classes. Stock classes run 3800 RPM maximum with a 13" hitch height, with the exception of the 1050# and 1150# 25HP which run 4250 RPM. Sleds are provided by Holy Cow Motorsports and Galva/Tri-County Pullers Club.
    Preregistration is required with entries postmarked by October 20. Participants entering the day of the pull will be charged a late fee and will still draw numbers for pulling order. Non-member participants will be charged a $5 insurance fee.
    Last year over $5,000 was awarded in payouts. In 2011, BHC students were awarded two $500 scholarships which assist in paying for tuition, books and tools.
    The Black Hawk College Ag/Auto Mechanics Club co-host the event and operate a food and beverage concession.
