  • Virginia M. Lascelles, 76, of New Boston, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.
    Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 at New Boston United Methodist Church; Rev. Beth Nelson officiating. Pallbearers are Chad Sedam, Michael Sedam, Bryson Lascelles, Scott Coulter, Marc Russell, Matt Russell, Dave McDonald and Stacey Whitlow. Honorary pallbearers are Virginia's nephews. Special music will be performed by Sheri McDonald and Dave & Missy McDonald. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, October 22, 2012 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at New Boston United Methodist Church. Memorials may be left for New Boston Ambulance Service, New Boston United Methodist Church or Serenity Hospice. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family.
    Virginia was born March 15, 1936 in Davenport, Iowa, a daughter of Milton and Gwendolyn Maxine Humble McDonald. She married Thomas Lascelles on Sept. 22, 1961 in New Boston. Mrs. Lascelles worked at Illinois Bell Telephone Company, Rock Island, for 35 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of the tele- phone company's Pioneers Club. Her many hobbies included going to the casino and also shopping with her best friend, Jan Downey. She loved to watch the pelicans and eagles on the Bay from her window.
    She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Tom Lascelles, New Boston; son Jeff (Nilfa) Lascelles, Simi Valley, CA; daughter Vickie (Tom) Sedam, New Boston; grandchildren Chad Sedam, New Boston, Kelli Tippie, Seaton, Michael Sedam, New Boston and Bryson Lascelles, Simi Valley, Calif; great grandchildren Derik Tippie, Ericka Sedam, Payton Sedam and Devin Peters; brother Mick (Debbie) McDonald, Aledo; sisters Marilyn (Lloyd) Nelson, New Boston, Kathleen Baker, Rock Island, Carol (Larry) Foglesong New Boston, Alice Cantrell, Aledo, Jody Whitlow, New Boston and Peggy (Steve) Larson, Seaton and lots of nieces and nephews and many special friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Cheryl and brother James.
