  • Blog: Children's flu clinics to be offered in Orion, Wyoming
  • The Henry and Stark County Health Departments announce they are offering
additional Seasonal Flu vaccine clinics for children 6 months - through
adults who may not have received a seasonal flu shot.

The Clinics will be held Wednesday, November 28th from 4:00-6:00pm in
the CR Hanna Elementary School Gymnasium, 900 14th Avenue, Orion and
Thursday, November 29th from 3:15-4:30pm at the Stark County Elementary
School, 300 Van Buren Street, Wyoming.

Charges and cost for the Children's vaccine will be set by the following
    criteria:

    * Medicaid enrolled - (bring current medical card to the clinic)

    * "NO INSURANCE" OR "Under-insured" - (your insurance does not pay for
immunizations-a $8.00 fee will be charged)

    * INSURANCE COVERS IMMUNIZATIONS - $22 for children 4 years and older.

    * There is no vaccine available for those under 4 years of age who have
    insurance that covers immunizations.

Parents and adults may also receive the seasonal flu shot at these
clinics; however, the cost for individuals age 19 and over is $22 per shot.

The Health Department notes that it is important to be protected against
the flu virus; as influenza epidemics are unpredictable. The 2012-2013 flu
vaccine will protect against influenza A/California (H1N1 -like virus),
    A/Victoria (H3N2-like virus), and influenza B/Wisconsin 2010-like (Yamagata
lineage) antigens. Flu Mist will be available for children 2 years thru 18
years of age who are healthy. Criteria will be determined at each clinic
    site.

RaeAnn Tucker-Marshall, Public Information Director notes, "We are
encouraging everyone 6 months of age and older to get vaccinated against the
flu this year. People at high risk of serious flu complications are
strongly encouraged to be vaccinated. These "at-risk" persons include small
children, pregnant women, people with chronic health problems like asthma,
diabetes, heart and lung disease, health care workers, and people 65 years
    and older."
