  • Shirley A. Kuchenmeister, 80 of rural Pontiac, died on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Evenglow Tjardes Health Care Center in Pontiac.
    Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac, with her nephew: Warren Brosi officiating. A visitation was held on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services, Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Pontiac. Memorials in Shirley's name may be left to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
    Shirley was born on Oct. 7, 1932 in Seaton, a daughter of Alton and Hallie (Hibbs) Crutcher. She married Leonard A. Kuchenmeister on Oct. 31, 1954 in Hamlet. He survives of rural Pontiac. She is also survived by five children: Roger A. Kuchenmeister of Montgomery, Janet Post of Normal, Mark (Christine) Kuchenmeister of League City, Texas, Linda (Ron) Tucker of Pontiac and Kaye (Brian) Olomon of Bloomington, IL; six grandchildren: Terry, Kristen, Danielle, Erica, Seth and Julia; six great grandchildren; three sisters: Wilma Townley of Taylor Ridge, Eva (Bob) Bull of Illinois City and Doris (Bill) Retherford of Joy and one brother: Kenneth (Jan) Crutcher of Joy. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Kathryn and Dollie and one brother: Denzil.
    Mrs. Kuchenmeister graduated from Joy High School. She worked numerous part time jobs, but her real job was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She had attended the First Baptist Church in Pontiac.
