Bustos Campaign Manager, Long-time Aide to Lane Evans join forces to serve Illinois’ New 17th Congressional District
Representative-Elect Cheri Bustos, Ill.-17, today announced the leadership of her Congressional offices in Illinois and Washington, D.C.
Allison Jaslow, who is currently guiding the Congresswoman-Elect’s transition, will be Chief of Staff.
Jerry Lack, a long-time public servant and former aide to U.S. Rep. Lane Evans, will be District Director.
“Few things are more important than building good teams, and when service to the public is at stake, choosing the right leadership for that team is paramount,” Bustos said.
“Allison’s combination of knowledge of Illinois’ new 17th Congressional District and Capitol Hill experience puts her in a unique position to lead our office and ensure every constituent’s voice is heard in Washington from Day 1.”
“I feel extremely fortunate that such a well-respected public servant, Jerry Lack, will be joining my team as District Director. Jerry’s years of economic development experience, familiarity with Congressional office operations, and extensive knowledge of the communities across our region will make him an asset to the citizens who deserve high-quality service from their Representative.”
Jaslow and Lack both weighed in on their pending appointments to Bustos’ staff:
“I consider it a distinct privilege to have the opportunity to continue to serve the people across Illinois’ 17th Congressional District on whose behalf I worked so hard to get the representation they deserve in Congress,” Jaslow said.
“It is a great honor to join Congresswoman-Elect Cheri Bustos’ staff. I look forward to assisting Congresswoman-Elect Bustos in helping area citizens and supporting economic growth and job creation," Lack said.
Allison Jaslow left Capitol Hill to join Bustos’ team as Campaign Manager in April 2012. In addition to her experience on campaigns across the Midwest, she has served in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, where she filled communications roles, and the White House. Jaslow is also a veteran of the United States Army, where she served two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom from November 2004- October 2005 and January 2007-April 2008.
Jaslow comes from a working-class family. Her father is a 30-year member of the United Food and Commercial Workers. She is a graduate of Central Missouri State University and Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo., where she studied on an ROTC scholarship.
Jerry Lack is coming to the Bustos office from his post as the Executive Director of the Illowa Construction Labor and Management Council where he’s been for the past five years. Illowa is a non-profit organization that brings union building trades and contractors together to improve labor and management cooperation in a nine-county area of Western Illinois and Eastern Iowa. Prior to his work at Illowa, Lack served as Economic and Community Development Director for retired U.S. Rep. Lane Evans, where he directed economic and community development efforts throughout the congressional district. Lack also served as Evans' liaison and advisor to local and state governments, economic development groups, community organizations and businesses.
