    Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Leon United Methodist Church – Prophetstown, IL with Rev. Cheri Stewart – Pastor of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church – Prophetstown, IL officiating.
    Visitation 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service, Friday, December 28, 2012 at Leon United Methodist Church – Prophetstown, IL. The Bosma-Gibson Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements. Internment in Riverside Cemetery – Prophetstown, IL
    Memorials may be made to the Leon United Methodist Church – Prophetstown, IL
    He was born September 30, 1916 in Mountain City, Tennesee to Benjamin and Cora (Dollar) Sturgill.
    He was married three times, first to Maxine Mack, second to Jacqueline Murphy. He then married Bernadine R. Sippel-Ashpole September 30, 1964 in Fairview Center, IL. Bernadine passed away May 21, 1999.
    First, Jim was a policeman in Aledo, IL. He was then Police Chief in Prophetstown, IL and retired from the force in 1974.
    He was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church – Prophetstown, IL. Jim was an avid antique gas engine and tractor collector and restorer. Jim also enjoyed collecting Studebakers.
    Survivors: Three daughters: Rita Jo (Steve) Crick – Louisville, KY, Phyllis (Dean) Epperly – Wheaton, IL, Lynn (Jim) Frost – Eustis, Florida; one son Doug Sturgill – Aledo, IL; one step-daughter Lynn (Rowan) Butts – Rock Falls, IL; one step son Ronald (Mary) Ashpole – Kewanee, IL; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and one sister Mrs. Irene Negley.
    He was preceded in death by wife Bernadine, one sister Wilma Gritten; one brother Ferd Sturgill; two grandchildren Gary Butts and Jason Race; and one great-grandaughter in infancy Novalea Paige Sturgill. To send online condolences go to www.bosmagibson.com.
