In Lunch Meeting, Rep. Bustos Met With Tom Carper, Chairman Of The Amtrak Board Of Directors, About Need To Bring Amtrak Service To Region

Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) held meetings in the Quad-Cities to learn more from local leaders about their needs and priorities.

This morning, Congresswoman Bustos met with members of the Black Hawk College Board of Trustees, and other local elected officials and community leaders, at Black Hawk College in Moline. At the meeting, Congresswoman Bustos heard firsthand about the needs and priorities of Black Hawk College and the important role community colleges play in training workers for the good-paying jobs of today and of the future.

Afterward, Congresswoman Bustos had lunch in Moline with Tom Carper, the Chairman of the Amtrak Board of Directors, to discuss the need to bring Amtrak service to the region. They talked about how supporting Amtrak will not only lead to a stronger local economy, but it will create many good-paying jobs that can’t be outsourced.

“My meetings today with leaders at Black Hawk College and with the Chairman of the Amtrak Board of Directors will help me best represent Illinois’ 17th Congressional District,” Congresswoman Cheri Bustos said. “Whether it fighting for our community colleges that train workers for the good-paying jobs of the future or standing up to bring Amtrak service, and the jobs it creates, to our region, I will continue to work with leaders on both sides of the aisle to do what is best for the people I’ve sworn to represent. I am committed to fighting for the people of the 17th Congressional District in Washington and traveling back as often as possible to continue to hear firsthand from my constituents.”
