This year’s celebration will focus on the theme of social justice and Dr. King’s quote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
The celebration will include performances by the Community Gospel Chorus, the Westbrook Singers,
Augustana’s Gospel Choir, and the Truth Temple and Pentecostal Church of God Praise Dancers. The sending will be provided by the Reverend Dwight Ford, director of the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Rock Island.
Mark A. Anderson, assistant dean of students at Augustana, encourages the community to join in the celebration. “Centennial Hall provides a unique venue that allows the Quad-Cities community the opportunity to join together in commemorating the life and legacy of Dr. King,” he said.
