The memorial service for Richard L. Magee, 92, of Cullom, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cullom United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. David L. Phillips officiating.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Inurnment will follow the memorial service at West Lawn Cemetery, Cullom, where military rites will be accorded by Skinner Trost American Legion Post #122.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday.
Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Cullom, has charge of arrangements.
Mr. Magee died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Evenglow Tjardes Health Care Center in Pontiac.
Richard was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Cullom, the son of Lewis E. and Hazel I. (Haag) Magee. He married Elizabeth E. DeLong June 21, 1942, in Cullom. She preceded him in death Aug. 19, 2006.
He is survived by one son, Robert W. Magee, Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Diann E. (Paul) Flessner, Cullom; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Florence) Magee, Atlanta, Ga.; and special friend, Lorine Ader, Cullom.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Richard was a lifelong resident of Cullom. He was educated in the Cullom schools and attended Bradley University.
He was a plant manager for Standard Oil in Cullom for many years.
He was a member of the Cullom United Methodist Church and Skinner Trost American Legion Post #122, where he served as past commander and also as chaplin for many years.
Richard served his country in the United States Army Air Corps as a mechanic on P-38’s in the 402nd Fighter Squadron from 1942 to 1945. Richard went on an Honor Flight to the World War II Memorial in 2009 and regarded it as one of his best trips.
He was an avid card player.
