VIOLA -- The Farmers State Bank of Western Illinois will be awarding four (4) $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors at these area high schools: Mercer County High School, Aledo; United High School, Monmouth; Alwood High School, Alpha and Sherrard High School.
Farmers State Bank will award one $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from each high school that plans to continue his/her education through an accredited program at a 4-year college, 2-year college, trade school or vocational school. The requirements vary slightly by school, so interested applicants are encouraged to contact their high school guidance counselors for additional details and the scholarship application.
The Farmers State Bank of Western Illinois opened for business in 1910 as the Farmers State Bank of Alpha. Today it has offices in Alexis, Aledo, Alpha, New Windsor, Viola and Woodhull serving a three-county area.
