Sandburg Theatre Presents ‘Robert’s Here’ March 21-23
Carl Sandburg College Theatre presents a new drama, “Robert’s Here,” at 7 p.m. March 21-23 in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd.
Set in an old house in Connecticut, the play surrounds Robert, a ghost played by Joe Winbigler of Galesburg. Robert’s past and present are mysteries to the new inhabitants of the house, Dave (Mark Thomas, Maquon) and Karen Williams (Emily Douglas, Monmouth). With the help of their new neighbor, Pam Adams (Caity Lee, Galesburg), and psychic medium Marian Dyer (April Newman, Monmouth), Karen searches for an explanation to the unusual events in the house. What she finds is surprising.
The play was written by Will Radford, a former student of Sandburg assistant professor of theater and speech Susan Sharp at Jackson State (Tenn.) Community College.
“He’s kept in touch and sent me various things he’s written over the years,” said Sharp, who is directing the production. “It’s especially rewarding for me to see a former student continue on in theater and to have the level of success Will has had.”
A reception will take place after the premiere show March 21 for patrons to meet and greet Radford.
“I am so thankful to Susan and Carl Sandburg College for giving me the opportunity to complete the script, or at least get it closer than ever before,” Radford said. “I especially want to thank the students who have worked so hard to get this play to the stage.”
Tickets for “Robert’s Here” are available before each show and are $5 for general admission and $2 for seniors and area students. Sandburg students, faculty and staff who show their College ID are admitted for free. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for each performance. The performance is not suitable for children under 12.
