Perfect for toys, crafts, or models

Next time you need to make wooden pulleys for toys, crafts or models, try this method from Club member James M. Tate of Flint, Texas. Clamp a scrap of wood to serve as a fence behind the drill bit of a drill press. Slide a length of wooden dowel against the stop; then press it to the running drill bit. Slowly turn the dowel until you’ve formed a groove, and then cut the newly formed pulley from the dowel stock. Because of the grain direction, these pulleys should only be used where they won’t undergo stress. Brought to you by: American Profile
