    William R. “Boot” Shoemaker, 68, of Keithsburg, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at home sur- rounded by his family.
    Memorial services were Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 1 p.m., with visitation 1 hour prior, at Keithsburg First Christian Church, with Rev. Charles Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery with graveside military rites by Aledo American Legion Post 121. Honorary pallbearers are Marky Collinson, Mike McGehee, Timmy Shoemaker, Wade Byrd, Mike Keith, Jerry Stineman and Bub Chenault. Memorials may be left for the family. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is han- dling arrangements.
    William Randal was born November 25, 1944 in New Boston, Illinois, a son of Freeman and Helen Howard Shoemaker. Bill married Catrina Cala, then later married Leah Long. Boot loved to fish. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965- 1967. He was a First Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Boot was a cement mason out of Local #18.
    Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lori (Robert) DeFrieze, New Boston; sons, Willie (Jennifer) Shoemaker, Rochester, NY and Tony (Jennifer) Shoemaker, Ontario, NY; six granddaughters; 1 great granddaughter; brothers, Freeman (Arlene) Shoemaker, Oquawka, Rick (Donna) Shoemaker, Muscatine, Iowa, Tim (Becky) Shoemaker, Keithsburg; sisters, Barb Gaylor, New Boston, Tina Byrd, Muscatine, Iowa, Jeanie Briles, Vickie Kapsalis and Jeri Sargeant all of Keithsburg.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and broth- er, Ben Shoemaker.
