    James A. Shaw, 62, of Rock Island, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Services were 11:30 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2013 at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial was in the Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery where graveside military services were conducted. Visitation was 3-6 p.m., Sunday at Fippinger’s where memorials may be left to the American Cancer Society for Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Research.     He was born December 23, 1950 in Aledo to L.D. and Evelyn Fryer Shaw. He graduated from Westmer High School in 1969. He married Nan Moody Casper on February 14, 2004 in Joy.
    James was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War from 1970-1972. He was a recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars and the Bronze Star Medal.
    He was employed as an assembler at John Deere Davenport Works. He was a member of the UAW and enjoyed fishing, traveling and his family.
    He is survived by his wife: Nan; two sons from a previous marriage: Jeremy (Jennifer) Shaw; Joseph (Shaunnessy) Shaw, both of Rock Island; three stepdaugh- ters: Amy Richardson of Pittsburg, Penn.; Katie (Chris) Yenor of Geneseo; Jennie Moody of Rock Island; four grandchildren; his mother: Evelyn Shaw of Aledo; one sister: Connie Shaw of Aledo; three brothers: Gary (Joan) Shaw, Ron (Pam) Shaw, both of Keithsburg; and William Shaw of Joy; several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother: Robert.
