  • Nic Bullock, 9, of rural New Boston, died Friday, July 19, 2013, along with his brother Jesse Bullock, in a drowning accident near Mannon, Illinois. Their cousin, Jamie Vermast, saved their little brother, Thomas, and tried his hardest to save the other boys, the family thanks Jamie for his efforts.

Their cousin, Jamie Vermast, saved their little brother, Thomas, and tried his hardest to save the other boys, the family thanks Jamie for his efforts.
     
    Funeral services are 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 3013 at Mercer County Intermediate School, Aledo. Rev. Charles Reynolds of Keithsburg First Christian Church, officiating. Visitation is also on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the school. Burial will be in Mannon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are George Kaufman, John Marshall, Eric Ness, Cole Showalter, Corey Ford and Timmy Shoemaker. The family request that memorials be left for the New Boston Boy Scouts or to the family. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo is handling arrangements.
     
    Nicholas “Nic” was born June 5, 2004 in Iowa City, Iowa, a son of Jesse and Emily Foster Bullock. He would have been a 4th grader in the Mercer County District this year. Nic was a true “country boy”. He loved to work on motors, shoot BB guns and play in the crick. Nic was an adventurist and loved being outdoors. He was a member of the New Boston Boy Scout Pack 406.
     
    Survivors include his parents, Jesse & Emily Bullock and brother, Thomas Bullock, all of New Boston; sister, Savannah Gibson, Keithsburg; maternal grandparents, Sandra Ford and Ross Foster; paternal grandparents, Rolinda Willits, Terry and Jodie Bullock and Rex and Kim Willits. He was preceded in death by his great grandma Norma Laucamp and Grandpa Dave Johnson.
     
    Jesse and Emily would like to thank Robin Sell for donating the grave spaces for their boys.
