Patricia J. McCready, 78, of Aledo, formerly of New Windsor, died, Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. Services are 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the New Windsor Presbyterian Church.
Patricia J. McCready, 78, of Aledo, formerly of New Windsor, died, Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. Services are 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the New Windsor Presbyterian Church. Burial is in the Hopewell Cemetery, New Windsor. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Monday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. A memorial fund will be established and online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com.
Pat was born July 21, 1935 to Lynn and Josephine Epperson Barton. She attended the AlWood Schools. Pat married Richard McCready December 8, 1951 in Davenport, Iowa. He died February 15, 2002.
She was employed at various restaurants and diners and became a cook at the New Windsor grade school and later at the Winola grade school, retiring as head cook in 1996.
She was a member of the New Windsor Presbyterian Church. Pat was employed part-time at the New Windsor Library and enjoyed shopping, playing cards and baking. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include: one daughter: Cheryl (David) Maynard of Matherville; one son: Jeff (Sandy) McCready of Woodhull; 8 grandchildren: Mark (Stacey) McCready, Jolynn Knox (Josh), Karen (Brett) Williams, Brooke Knox, Malorie (Daniel) Higgins, Marysa McCready, Heather (Scott) Smith and Amber Maynard; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters: Mary (Van) Floyd of Swedona, IL; Ruth Goben of Hudson, WI; one brother: Pete (Evelyn) Barton of Alpha, IL; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Richard; one son: Michael; three sisters and two brothers.
