MUSCATINE, Iowa – Merle E. Boruff, 87, a former resident of Buffalo Prairie, Illinois, died on Friday, September 6, 2013, at All American Care Center.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Buffalo Prairie Cemetery. Honorary bearers will be Rob Olson, Greg Boruff, Chet Boruff, and Stan Boruff. Casket bearers will be Sean Dixon, Erik Dixon, Scott Giles, Michael Lee, Douglas Hessman, and John Olson.

Merle was born on January 21, 1926, at home on the Boruff homestead, the son of Boyd Benton and Irma Vanatta Boruff. He married Ann Marie Moffitt on August 28, 1949, at the Reynolds Methodist Church.
He was a fourth generation farmer on the Boruff family farm, in Rock Island County. Merle served on the board of directors for Community Bank and Trust. He was a member of Buffalo Prairie Lodge No. 679 and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason in the Moline Consistory.
He was a loving mentor to his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Marie Boruff of Buffalo Prairie, Illinois; two daughters, Drue Boruff of Illinois City, Illinois, and Cherie Lee and husband, Michael, of Jacksonville, Florida; two grandchildren, Sean Dixon and wife, Sarah, of Joy, Illinois, and Erik Dixon and wife, Ashley, of Illinois City, Illinois; four great-grandchildren, Koleigh, Kassidy, Keeghan, and Lukas Dixon; and one sister, Marjorie McCaw of Aledo, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
