Rock Island County Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a fall fish sale to stock area ponds. Available species include Catfish, Bass, Bluegill, Crappie, Sunfish, and minnows. In addition, sterile Triploid Grass Carp can be ordered as a biological method to control vegetation.
The local IDNR fisheries biologist is the best resource for questions pertaining to initial stocking and restocking questions; the biologist, Ken Clodfelter, can be reached at email@example.com.
Rock Island County SWCD is taking orders for fish through Tuesday, Oct. 25 (Oct. 18 for Grass Carp). Pick up is Thursday, Oct. 31 at 8 a.m. at the SWCD office located at 3020 1st Ave E, Milan. Orders from outside Rock Island County are welcome; however, your local SWCD may sponsor a sale which may be more convenient.
The order form is available at www.rockislandswcd.org or call to have one mailed. For more information or questions contact the SWCD staff at firstname.lastname@example.org or 309-281-9796. The physical office will be closed during the government shut-down.
Rock Island County SWCD is a local unit of government, and sale proceeds benefit Rock Island SWCD’s mission of providing services to enhance, protect, conserve and promote the soil, water, and related resources in Rock Island County.
