The Sherrard Tigers girls basketball team defeated Ridgewood 71-32 Wednesday night. The Spartans stayed within reach during the first quarter and trailed only 12-7 after one period. Jasmine Jefko led the Ridgewood effort with six of the team's seven points.
The Tigers turned up the heat in the second period as Riley Strandgard scored eight points for the Tigers and led them into halftime with a 35-19 edge. Strandgard had 12 points in the first half. The Tigers followed up the team's 23 point second quarter outburst with 22 points in the third quarter to help seal the victory. The Tigers led by 30, 57-37 after three quarters. Chelsey Crippen led the Tigers attack in the third period with six points and Libby Frye added five more in the period.
Scoring for the Tigers were: Strandgard, 18; Crippen, 16; Frye, 13; Faith Anderson, seven; Skyler setser, five; Tori Redpath and Shelby Calderone, four and Jordan Hutton and Spenser Strandgard, two.
Jasmine Jefko led Ridgewood with 10 points.
