On Jan. 2 Mercer County Sheriff's Office received a complaint involving the possible impersonation of a police officer near Aledo. The complainant advised that she was pulled over by a light colored SUV displaying a white strobe type light. The complainant told of the suspect making physical contact with the victim without serious injury occurring. Sheriff's Office reminds that local police and Sheriff's Deputies use red, blue and white flashing lighting. Sheriff's Office urges citizens who question the authenticity of a police stop while in Mercer County to slow their vehicle, activate their hazard lights and slowly drive to a well lit, safe location and if safe to do so call 309-582-5194 (Mercer County Sheriff's Office) to verify the stop.
