The Mercer County Golden Eagles girls basketball team fell in overtime, 43-42 to the West Central Heat Jan. 9. The Heat improved its record to 9-8 with the victory while Mercer County fell to 5-9.

The Mercer County Golden Eagles girls basketball team fell in overtime, 43-42 to the West Central Heat Jan. 9. The Heat improved its record to 9-8 with the victory while Mercer County fell to 5-9.

The Golden Eagles built a seven point lead over the first three quarters outscoring the Heat 11-8, 9-7 and 13-11 in each period.

The Heat came back with a 10-3 run in the fourth period to knot the contest at 36-36 and force the overtime period.

The Heat outscored Mercer County 7-6 in the overtime period for the victory.

Scoring for the Heat were: Michaela Baker, 10; Kristin Heath and Bridget Anderson, nine; Emily Lower, seven; Bailey Swanson, four and McKenzie Baker three.

Leadijng the Heat were Cierra Pulse, 14 and Joni Lafary, 12.
