  • Today, Cheri Bustos’ campaign for Congress announced that it raised close to $1.1 million dollars in 2013, including almost $330,000 during the last three months of 2013. Bustos’ campaign currently has just under $820,000 cash-on-hand. Bustos’ 2013 fundraising haul and her fourth quarter numbers are both records for Illinois’ 17th Congressional District.
“Our grassroots campaign is humbled to have the strong support of so many across our region of Illinois,” Jeremy Jansen, Bustos' Campaign Manager said. “Cheri Bustos is running to continue her fight to bring middle class values back to Washington. We need representatives like Cheri in Congress with the right priorities. That means putting job-creation and our economy first, reducing the deficit in a balanced way, while protecting Medicare and Social Security, and standing up for America’s veterans.”
In 2013, Bustos’ campaign raised $1,077,416, including $327,316 during the last three months of the year. Bustos’ campaign currently has $819,000 cash-on-hand. In comparison, by the end of 2011, Schilling’s campaign had raised $784,451, including $219,955 during the last three months of 2011. At this time in the 2011 election cycle, Schilling’s campaign had $612,000 cash-on-hand.
Since being sworn-in in January, Bustos has fought relentlessly for common sense solutions to our nation’s problems and for the middle class families she represents in Illinois. She has delivered on her commitment to focus on creating jobs and growing the local economy, protecting Medicare and Social Security, and finding ways to reduce the federal deficit in a balanced way. Bustos has also made standing up for our veterans a key priority and has done her part to bring an end to dysfunction in Washington by building strong working relationships with both Democrats and Republicans.
