  • George J. "Hump" King, 80, of Aledo, formerly of New Boston, IL, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at home.
     
     
     
     
    Services were 10 a.m. Monday, June 23 at New Boston United Methodist Church with Rev. Beth Nelson officiating. Pallbearers are Bill Comer, Shane Nelson, Doug Nelson, Bill Sedam, Montie Schell and Greg LeHew. Honorary pallbearers are Lloyd Nelson, Roger Sedam, Gary Coulter and Kenny Long. Burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, June 22 from 4- 7 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo. Memorials may be left for the New Boston Fire/Ambulance Department.
     
     
     
    George was born April 9, 1934 in New Boston, Illinois a son of George and Anna Mae Inman King. He served in the Army from 1953-1956. On Sept. 4, 1959, he married Ernestine Sheese in Joy, Illinois. Mr. King was an Iron Worker out of Local 111, retiring in 1993. He had been a member of the New Boston Fire Department and Keithsburg Lions Club. Hump was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone.
     
     
     
    Survivors include his wife, Ernestine King of Aledo; daughters, Lela (Dave Noyd) Bieri, Aledo, and Ruth King, Moline; sisters, Leona Willits, Joy, Anna Belle Talbot, Aurora, Cheryl Lane, New Boston, and brother, John (Barb) King, Bennett, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters‚ Kathryn Briggs, Mabel Larson and Rosie King and brothers‚ Robert, James, Russell and Harold "Bud".
