  • Twenty-one flag bearers on horseback from the New Windsor Drill Team displayed their equestrian talents, showmanship, and patriotism before an appreciative crowd at the 2014 Mercer County Fair on Thursday, July 10, 2014.
Riders wove between each other's horses to create intricate sequences of choreography that were best viewed from the grandstand's high bleachers. Many of the riders have been a part with the Drill Team for several years and bring a level of expertise that shows in their performance.
The Drill Team will perform each night at the 75th New Windsor Fair, Rodeo and Horse Show on Thursday, Aug. 14 through Saturday Aug. 16, 2014. The New Windsor fairgrounds are located North of Illinois Highway Route 17 on Main Street of New Windsor.
The rodeo is sanctioned by the International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA) of Oklahoma. Some of the best rodeo talent participate in the bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding events at the New Windsor Rodeo.
In honor of the 75th New Windsor Fair, Rodeo, and Horse Show, a commemorative belt buckle is being offered for sale to the public. The buckle is 3" tall by 4" wide and sells for $80.00 each. Crafted by Montana Silversmiths®, the buckle beautifully displays the New Windsor Rodeo logo. The deadline to purchase the buckle is Aug. 20, 2014.
