ELIZA – Robert W. McKay, 81, of Eliza, died on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Trinity Hospital – Muscatine.
Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Beth Nelson of the Eliza Community Church will officiate. Honorary bearers will be Amanda Biarkis, Ashley Ravenscraft, Allison McKay, Carrie McKay, Jen McKay, Lindsay McKay, Randy Marston, R.J. Marston, and Mark Marston. Casket bearers will be Matt McKay, Jeff McKay, Brandon McKay, Rob McKay, Nathan McKay, Patrick Biarkis, and Shawn Ravenscraft. Burial will take place in Eliza Creek Cemetery.

Robert was born on Aug. 23, 1932, in Duncan Township in Mercer County, the son of Harold and Ruth Elliott McKay. He married Patricia J. Harder on July 20, 1952, in Buffalo Prairie.
He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean Conflict.
He was a farmer, and drove trucks for Service Steel, Gless Brothers, and Glen Nelson. He also had worked at Bayhill Fertilizer and Crop Production. He was a member of the Eliza Community Church, the Masonic Lodge at Buffalo Prairie and the Eliza American Legion. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and also doing woodworking.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 62 years, Patricia McKay of Eliza; three sons, Doug McKay and wife, Linda, of Milan, Danny McKay and wife, Barb, of Rock Island, Dwayne McKay and wife, Lorie, of Eliza; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Amanda Biarkis and husband, Patrick, Matt McKay and wife, Jen, and their children, Owen and Luke McKay, Jeff McKay and wife, Carrie, and their children, Savannah and Korbin McKay, Brandon McKay, Rob McKay and wife, Lindsay, and their children, Lexie and Bryn McKay, Allison McKay, Nathan McKay, and Ashley Ravenscraft and husband, Shawn, and their son, Camden Ravenscraft; and one sister, Shirley Marston.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; and one brother-in-law.
