Several local students are graduating from Black Hawk College, Quad-Cities Campus (Moline) this spring.

That was some of the news shared at the Feb. 13, 2012 school board meeting held in the district's high school library. There was a crowd of around 25 attending the meeting. The finance committee of the school board has held two meetings this past month to come up with recommendations to avoid this future financial disaster. Another community meeting is set for Monday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The board hopes to help answer some community concerns about the budget. The board is proposing some austerity moves to reduce next year's budget by around $1.3 million.
Money matters were the main topic at the Feb. 13, 2012 meeting of the Rockridge Board of Education.
The Rockridge Board of Education approved some "Life Safety" measures to be completed over the next five years at three of the district schools. District architect Bill Phillips of Canton talked to the board about three school buildings needing portions of their roofs replaced due to deteriorating foam replacement roofs. Roofs are needed at Taylor Ridge and Andalusia Elementary schools and several portions of the Junior Senior high school in Edgington.
The Moline Foundation announces February 15 as the deadline to apply for the Clem T. Hanson scholarship. Residents of Moline School District No. 40 are eligible to apply for the four year college scholarship based on scholarship, financial need and extracurricular activities. Students should contact their counseling office at Moline High School, Alleman High School or Black Hawk College for an application. The three Hanson scholarship award winners will be chosen by a local scholarship selection committee and notified of their selection by May 1, 2012. They will receive $1,500 annually for the next four years with an annual renewal based on satisfactory progress in their post-secondary education.
The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) has come out in strong opposition of Illinois Senate Bill 2550 and is urging its member schools and the communities they reside in to speak out against this potentially dangerous legislation.
Rockridge CUSD #300 Board of Education held its meeting Monday night, Nov. 14, 2011, in the Reynolds Grade School gymnasium. The board is making the rounds within the district and has future meetings starting at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 12 at Andalusia Grade School and Jan. 9. 2012 at Taylor Ridge Grade School.
The No Child Left Behind legislation hit another milestone in the Rockridge School District, with all elementary schools achieving adequate yearly progress in both math and reading based on tests given earlier this year. Reporting on the elementary scores on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 was Illinois City Principal Christel Fowler.
Rockridge CUSD #300 classes begin on Aug. 22 for students. Teachers will be back to school on Aug. 18.
The Rockridge Board of Education met Monday, June 13, and filled the last board spot with Heidi Schultz, a resident in Andalusia Township. Prior to the vote to name her to that position, a public hearing was held to amend the 2010-2011 budget.

Rockridge High School held the school's fifty-fourth annual eommencement exercise May 29 as 120 students graduated this year.
Samantha McGreer, the senior class president, gave the invocation.
Daly Wilges was named the salutatorian and gave the welcome address.
