ALEXIS — Alexis Fire Equipment employee Rick Corbin discussed details of a new building the company is having erected during Monday’s meeting of the Village Board. The building will go up on South McKnight Street during the coming weeks.

“The building arrived today (Monday) and a crew will begin work on Thursday of this week,” he said.

The building is to be put up north of the Alexis ambulance garage and Alexis Fire Station building and adjacent or south of Alexis Fire Equipment's paint shop. Corbin added that the electrical lines would be run under South McKnight Street. Advanced Plumbing of Monmouth and Wright Electric of Geneseo will be in charge of drainage and plumbing work and electrical work, respectively.

Drainage pipes will run into the ground like the other buildings Alexis Fire Equipment has erected. The pipes will then be laid at the bottom of ditches which will be filled over. It will be the village's responsibility when the power lines are put under the street. No estimate of the cost of the work was available.

In other business, village employee Jim Olson reported that bids for a generator for the sewer plant would be opened at 11 a.m. Friday in Town Hall. A special board meeting to discuss the bids will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Community Center.

The board discussed the wording of an ordinance pertaining to the demolition of a building in the village. The owner must have the water line tapped at the main. Attorney Ron Stombaugh will rewrite the ordinance for board examination and approval.

The next board meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 13 at the Community Center.
