Robert V. Ruggles, 75 of Millersburg, Illinois formerly of Davenport, Iowa and Viola, IL died Sunday, September 17, 2017 Unity Point Health-Trinity in Rock Island, IL. Cremation has been accorded. Memorial Services are 2:30 p.m. Friday September 22, 2017 at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery, where graveside military services will be conducted. Visitation is 1:00 p.m. until time of services Friday at Fippinger’s.

He was born August 26, 1942 in Aledo, IL to Harold and Opal Neal Ruggles. He attended the Aledo schools and was drafted in the U.S. Army.  Bob married Rita Morris May 12, 1962 in Aledo.

Bob was employed as a crane operator on the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1995.  He was later employed at Crop Production Services in Viola and Liqui Grow in Joy.

He was a member and former commander of the Viola American Legion Post #229.

Bob enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Rita; one daughter, Angela (Daniel) Simpson of Keithsburg, IL; one son, Brian (Janene Krambeck) Ruggles of Austin, TX; 4 grandchildren: Gage, Mackenzie, Dominic and Logan; six sisters, Barbra (Allan) Kraklow of Toulon, IL; Carroll Powell of Bettendorf, Iowa; Bonnie Doss of Illinois City, IL; Wanda (Pat Hynes) White of Milan, IL; Martha (Dennis) Bedford; Betty (Dave) Criswell all of Aledo, IL; two brothers, Billy (Janice) Ruggles of Aledo, IL; Neal (Vicky) Ruggles of Taylor Ridge, IL; one sister-in-law, Mary Ruggles of Dixon, IL; several nieces and nephews.

His parents; one son, Mark and two brothers, Burris and Keith Ruggles preceded him in death.
