Mercer County was on the road last week starting out facing Annawan on Monday night. The Eagles will go into their final week of conference play this week.

 Mercer County was on the road last week starting out facing Annawan on Monday night. The Golden Eagles stayed within striking distance in the first half down just 20-27 at the half. The Eagles were not able to keep up with Annawan’s offensive game and finished with a 62-39 loss. Mercer County was led by Emma Coulter with 12 points, putting up 4 shots from the 3 points range. Alyssa Hess added 8 points to the efforts and led the rebounding with 6. Karli Stineman also added 8 with 5 rebounds. Jayde VanHyfte led Annawan with 25 points and Reese Randall added 15.

Wednesday the Eagles traveled to Rowva and brought home a 43-27 win. Mercer County came out to an early lead outscoring Rowva 16-0 in the first quarter of play. The Tigers came back in the 2nd half but could not overcome the deficit. Emma Coulter and Dani Hagens shared the leading score honors with 9 each. Coulter also lead in rebounds with 7. Karli Stineman and Alyssa Hess both added 6 to the board. Calyn Garza led the Tigers with 8.

 Rockridge hosted the Eagles on Thursday night. Mercer County came out with an explosive first quarter of play outscoring their hosts 19-9. The Rockets came back in the 2nd half and challenged the Eagles lead coming down to an exciting finish. The Eagles took home the 45-42 win. Mercer County was led again by Emma Coulter with 16 points and Dani Hagens added 14. Alyssa Hess led the Eagles in rebounds with 5 and put up 8 points. Jessica Stice led the Rockets with 18.

 Mercer County returned home for a Saturday night match up with Alleman. The Pioneers and Eagles played a competitive first half with Alleman up just 18-17 at the half. Mercer County had a sluggish second half and the Pioneers took home the win 50-32. The Eagles were led by Karli Stineman with 11 points and Emma Coulter added 6. Tess Taylor led the Eagles in rebounds with 5. Alleman was led by Annalise Connolly with 16 and Gabbi Loiz with 14.

 The Eagles will go into their final week of conference play this week. The regional championships will begin on February 5 at Knoxville.
