VIOLA — The Mercer/Henry County Major Crime Task Force is investigating an officer-involved shooting Tuesday in rural Viola.

The shooting occurred during an investigation involving illegal drugs and firearms. One person received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Trinity West Medical Center in Rock Island by AMT Ambulance. Another person was taken into custody and transported to the Mercer County Jail.

Both suspects face multiple charges including felon in possession of a weapon, possession of stolen firearms, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Because this is an ongoing investigation, no names were released by the sheriff’s department. Mercer County sheriff’s deputies were assisted by New Windsor and Viola first responders.
