Sampson “Bud” E. Munson, 82, of Keithsburg, IL, passed away at 5:06 a.m., Friday, September 14, 2018 at his home. Graveside Services will be at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg, IL, with Rev. Chuck Reynolds officiating. There will be no visitation. Following the graveside will be a time of food and fellowship at Keithsburg First Christian Church. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the First Christian Church. Sampson “Bud” E. Munson, 82, of Keithsburg, IL, passed away at 5:06 a.m., Friday, September 14, 2018 at his home.

He was born on August 5, 1936 in Oakville, IA, the son of Joseph H. Sr., and Thelma (Wickey) Munson.  Bud was raised and educated in Joy and graduated from Joy High School in 1954. 

Bud married Sandra Thompson in June 4, 1955 in Milan, IL; she preceded him in death on May 6, 2016.

He was first employed by Weyerhaeuser Company in Cedar Rapids, IA for 20 years and retired on August 5, 1991 after working for 10 years for the City of Hiawatha, IA Maintenance Department.  Bud enjoyed raising miniature horses, playing golf, fishing, camping, and being with friends. 

Surviving Bud are two sons; Ricky Munson of Cedar Rapids, IA, Donny (Anita) Munson of Central City, IA; three grandchildren, one step grandchild, eleven great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren; one sister, Patsy (Lonnie) Peterson of Joy, IL; special niece, Cookie (Jerry) Olson of Joy, IL, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; brother, Joseph Munson, Jr., Charles Munson, Sr.; sisters, Thelma Burton, Zona Davison, Dorothy Dixon, and Judy Hunt.
