Larry L. Leathers, 78 of Keithsburg, died Friday, September 21, 2018 at his home, with his family at his side. Private family services will be held in Peniel Cemetery, Joy, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for the First Christian Church of Keithsburg. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family.

Larry L. Leathers, 78 of Keithsburg, died Friday, September 21, 2018 at his home, with his family at his side. Private family services will be held in Peniel Cemetery, Joy, Illinois. Larry Lee was born on October 3, 1939 at the family home in Delta, Iowa to Wilford & Cathleen E. (Stout) Leathers. He was married for over 40 years to the former Susan Hoyle. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2015.

Larry retired after 40 years of driving truck, lastly with Miller Container. He enjoyed camping, fishing, going to auctions and watching NASCAR. He especially enjoyed his horses and going to the Kolona Horse Sales. Larry cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his children and spouses: Rhonda & Todd Christie of Joy; Lisa & Tim Wessels of Keithsburg; Dale Leathers of East Moline; Laurie & Steven Daulton of Colorado Springs; Grandchildren: Andrew (Amanda Cerar) Christie; Ashley Christie; Nicole, Patrick & Ryan Wessels; Michael, Kayla & Lindsey Leathers; Casey Agan; Bobby Brown & Dwayne Smith, Jr.; Great-Grandchildren: Jaxen Christie; Esther Sue Bowles; Keaton, Clayton & Carson  Leathers; Karissa, Abagail & Katelyn Agan; Adam, William & Levi Smith; Alex and a brother, Denny Leathers of Coal Valley. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Sharon Cabor.

The family would like to thank Genesis Hospice and the visiting nurses, especially Mandie Staley, for the excellent care given to Larry during his illness and to special friends, Steph Sedam, Betty Smith, Rev. Chuck Reynolds and Tammy Jackson, for the extra help during the last few weeks.
