The 16th annual Dr. Charles Ford Frog Race is set for July 4 at Aledo Central Park.
Racing starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, with sign-up at 9:30 a.m. There will be six age divisions, from youth to senior citizens. Prizes will be awarded for the top three frogs in each division. A community concert at the Aledo Band Shell follows at noon, with music from local Mercer County singers and band members. Last year's frog race had more than 100 participants. This is one event you don't want to miss. Aledo Fireworks this year will take place at the Mercer County Fairgrounds after dark.
