Golden Eagles win thriller on opening night

The foot of Luke Boucher lifted the Golden Eagles to a 31-28 victory over the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans Friday night. Boucher's field goal with 3.4 seconds remaining on the clock was a game winner.

Boonedock Bandits tryouts Girls ASA 10U traveling softball tryouts

Mercer County Meet the Team night is Aug. 20

Meet the Team night for Mercer County High School has been scheduled for Friday, August 20, 6 p.m., at the George Pratt Memorial Field in Aledo. Meet the Team night is an opportunity for the community to meet athletes, cheerleaders, pompon squads and coaches. It's also a night of a football scrimmages. 

Great River High Performance Schedules Speed and Plyometric Camp

 Great River High Performance is offering a speed and plyometric camp for athletes 13 and up. The camp is scheduled from 8:30 to 11 a.m., July 26 to 29, at the West Burlington High School Gym and Track, 408 W.  Van Weiss Blvd., West Burlington, Iowa
 

Monmouth College Track & Field and Cross Country Camp is July 5-8

Registration is underway for the Monmouth College Track & Field and Cross Country Camp to be held July 5-8. The camp, which will run from 6-8:15 each evening, is open to boys and girls entering grades 7-12. Cost for the camp is $40 if registered before July 1. The Mercer County Board of Education will met Wednesday, June 16 at the district office at 1002 SW 6th Street in Aledo.

Rhubarb runners brave rain for race

While the rain may be playing havoc with the turnout of the Rhubarb Festival, the Rhubarb Run didn't miss a beat. A large crowd turned out Saturday morning to run in the rain. While the race is normally held early in the morning to beat the heat, it was the rain they ran against June 5.

Heiar and Dahlstrom qualify for finals

Several area individuals participated in the IHSA Class 1A Boys Track and Field meet in Charleston May 27.

McEwen helps CSC to NJCAA Division II National Golf Tournament


The CSC Chargers made their first trip in the college’s history to the NJCAA Division II Men’s National Golf Tournament in Sunny Phoenix, AZ. Palm Valley Golf Club hosted the event, home of the Phoenix College Bears.  

Team BEAST to Host Youth Triathlon June 27

Team BEAST (Burlington Endurance Athlete Sports Team) has scheduled its youth triathlon to begin at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 27, in Dankwardt Park, 2700 S. Main St., Burlington, Iowa. Youth ages 7 to 14 may participate.

Local girls compete in state track meet

Several students from Mercer County, Sherrard, Rockridge and United high schools competed in the preliminary heats of the Class 1A girls state track finals Thursday, May 20 in Charleston.

Rockridge-Alleman rescheduled until Friday

The Mercer County girls softball regional semifinal game between  Rockridge and Alleman, originally scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, has been rescheduled to 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 21.

Sherrard tops Mercer County, 6-2

The Sherrard Tigers' softball team advanced to the championship game of the Mercer County Regional Wednesday after defeating the host, Mercer County, 6-2.

Mercer County eliminates Monmouth-Roseville in softball regional


The Mercer County Golden Eagles advanced to the second round of the Aledo Regional Tuesday, May 18 with an 12-3 victory over the Monmouth-Roseville Titans.

MCHS softball team hosts Titans today

The Mercer County High School girls softball team (4) will play play Monmouth-Roseville (5) today, March 18, in the first round of the Aledo Softball Regional. The game starts at 4:30 p.m.

MCHS boys baseball team plays today

The Mercer County High School boys baseball game postponed from May 17 will be played May 18 at 4:30 p.m. in Macomb. The game is part of the Macomb Baseball Regional.

Tigers win Rockridge Sectional

The Sherrard Tigers girls track team won the Rockridge Sectional Friday, May 14.

Mercer County men, women place second in LTC

The Mercer County mens’ and womens’ track and field team placed second in the Lincoln Trail Conference held Saturday, May 8.

Boraas and Hainline shine at Titan Invite

The Sherrard High School girls track team won the Titan Invite held in Monmouth, May 3.
