The Mercer County High School wrestling team defeated Sherrard 37-28 on Dec. 3.
Mercer County won five of the first six matches to build a 21-3 lead.
Sherrard came back to cut the lead to 33-28 prior to the final match but couldn’t pull out the win.
At 112 pounds Ricky Vanderham beat Alek Blaser 8-3.
At 119 pounds Logan Snyder won a major decision over Tyson Schulte, 12-1.
At 125 pounds Austin Skiles scored a tech fall victory over Cody Culler, 13-2.
At 130 pounds Jesse Snyder pinned Zach Gustafson in 2:34.
At 135 pounds Derrick Morford beat Eric Miller, 3-0.
At 140 pounds Zach Nelson beat Michael Anthony, 1-0.
At 145 pounds Andrew Miller Brandon Doherty 3-1.
At 152 pounds Schyler Wadlow beat C.J. DeSpain 19-5.
At 160 pounds Derek Mizaur won by forfeit.
At 171 pounds Landon McIntosh pinned Sam Congdon in 1:57.
At 189 pounds Ethan Ball pinned Seth What in 1:55.
At 215 pounds Cody Congdon pinned A.J. Schroeder in 1:33.
At 275 pounds Eric Link pinned Preston Smith in 5:50.
At 103 pounds Bryce Skiles beat Jacob Dilbeck in a major decision, 11-3.
