The Sherrard Tigers girls' basketball team defeated Rockridge, 56-36, Jan. 28.
Rockridge outscored Sherrard 17-16 in the opening period. Hilary Dowell came through with six points for the Rockets while Lacey Hainline helped the Tigers keep pace with eight points.
Sherrard came back in the second period to outscore Rockridge 18-16 and take a 34-33 lead at halftime.Hainline was the big scorer for the Tigers with six points while Emily Watkins scored five for the Rockets.
The Tigers defense shut out Rockridge in the third quarter not allowing a single point. Sherrard took 46-33 lead into the fourth period.
The Tigers outscored Rockridge 10-6 in the final period to secure the victory.
Scoring for Sherrard were: Hainline, 18; Tarran Shaffer, 11; Mollee Iverson, eight; Kayla Tatge, seven; Kelly Hornick, six; Warner, four and Karlee Rumler, two.
Scoring for Rockridge were: Dowell, eight; Kayla Macke and Kaylee Moseley, seven; Emily Watkins, five; Nikki Dixon and Tia Fuhr, four and Caitlin Mcvay, and Rebecca Wolf, two.
