"We hope to provide vital stepping stones toward success for young girls as they develop life skills, whether or not they desire to be involved in pageantry," says Joni Caldwell, Mercer County pageant director.

Miss Mercer County 2008 Briley Bollinger is a communications major at Columbia College and received best speech non-finalist at the Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant 2009. She will conduct the public speaking workshop for teens. Kathryn Ricke, Junior Miss Mercer County 2008; Karli Stineman, Little Miss Mercer County 2008; Joni Caldwell, pageant director and pageant committee members will conduct workshops as well. Caldwell's years of experience in pageantry on several levels fuel her passion to help young girls polish their communication and etiquette skills for school and work. "Eliminating insecurity builds confidence," says Caldwell. "When parents invest in their child's security and self confidence...that is priceless."

"We'd encourage the girls to wear tea party attire," invites Caldwell. "This is a great opportunity for the girls to see what pageantry is all about but this clinic does not tie anyone into the pageant."

The 2009 Mercer County Fair Queen Pageant is July 14. The stage is expected to be transformed into a Cinderella-like palace "Where Dreams Come True."

Reservation deadline for Tea with the Queens and Pageant Clinic is Wednesday, April 22. Preferred contact method is email rnjcldwl@winco.net or phone (309) 596-2292. Mailing address is Joni Caldwell, 902 18th Street, Viola, IL 61486.
