The governing board of Mercer County Hospital has agreed to sign a one-year management contract with Genesis Health System, Davenport. The Mercer County Hospital Governing Board will retain responsibility for the hospital, assets and liabilities, as well as approving the strategic plan, budgets and capital purchases.


The governing board of Mercer County Hospital has agreed to sign a one-year management contract with Genesis Health System, Davenport. The Mercer County Hospital Governing Board will retain responsibility for the hospital, assets and liabilities, as well as approving the strategic plan, budgets and capital purchases.

Through the terms of the management contract, Genesis will provide Mercer County Hospital with a CEO who will report to Mercer County Hospital Governing Board and Genesis. On March 30, Jeff Cooper will be joining Mercer County Hospital's management team as interim CEO and will remain in that position until a permanent CEO is chosen. Genesis will also provide contracted services such as quality improvement programs, revenue enhancement, physician recruitment, information technology and new service programs as required by the hospital.

The Mercer County Hospital Governing Board also reviewed proposals from OSF and Iowa Health System. After careful consideration, Genesis was selected because of its location, commitment to quality initiatives and patient care, as well as the selection of services they will be able to offer to Mercer County Hospital.
